Good morning, iPad Lawyer Tribe.
As an end-of-the-week reminder, I will be at Apple’s Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica on Wednesday, August 27 starting at 6p. Here’s what Apple says about the event:

On the app front, I’m excited. You’ve heard me say that if you took every third party app away from me and only let me have one back I would choose Goodreader 4. This is a cross-device (it will work on your iPad and iPhone) app that is a file manager, PDF reader, manager, and annotater, file browser, storage tool, and on and on. Normally, this app is $2.99. Today it is on sale for $.99. You save $2.

If you want to create really detailed flow charts and diagrams of processes, you might enjoy inShort. With inShort, you can build custom diagrams that depict tasks in minute detail. Normally, this app is $8.99. Today it is only $4.99. You save $4.

For those of you who like to give presentations with your iPad, take a look at Flowboard. You can use photos, videos, PDFs, text, etc. Then, you can create a URL for other devices to access your presentation. The app is FREE (however, there are some in-app purchases available if you want more robust options).

I mentioned the new app from Tom Hanks — Hanx Writer — in a separate post. But it’s worth repeated here. Tom Hanks has released a tribute to his love of typewriters by offering a writing app that emulates the look and sound (not the touch) of a typewriter. There is a FREE version that offers one style of typewriter. There is also an in-app upgrade if you want more versions and options. If nothing else, this app is just plain, old fun to use and listen to.

I usually only post about apps that I’ve actually tried and usually only post those that work primarily on your iPad. However, Conferencia is one of those iPhone apps that just looks too cool and useful not to give you a head’s up on even before I give it a go. Here’s the app publisher’s description: “With Conferencia you won’t ever have to remember or enter phone numbers and audio pins to dial into conference calls. No more fumbling with your smartphone on the go!Conferencia parses your smartphone calendar and shows you all your conference calls and meetings in a convenient agenda view. Simply touching the call icon or acting on the reminder will dial you right into your conference call, without having to look up, remember, or dial any numbers. Conferencia also allows you to easily call, text or email attendees without having to look up their information in your contacts and to use calling cards to automatically dial international numbers. You can take and save notes for all your calls so action items and next steps are never forgotten.” Best of all, Conferencia is FREE.
